Woman gaining confidence while singing in a group

Performance anxiety is normal — here’s how to overcome it and enjoy singing again.

Woman gaining confidence while singing in a group

For many people, singing feels deeply personal — and sometimes, a little intimidating. But in Leicester, a growing number of people are discovering that singing in a group is one of the easiest and most enjoyable ways to build confidence.

You don’t need experience. You don’t need training. You don’t even need to believe you’re a “good singer.”

What you do need is curiosity — and a willingness to try.

What to Expect at Your First Session

Walking into your first session might feel like a big step — but most people quickly realise they’re not alone.

Here’s what usually happens:

  • A warm welcome from the group leader
  • Simple vocal warm-ups
  • Learning songs together (no pressure to perform)
  • A relaxed, friendly atmosphere

By the end, most people leave feeling lighter, more confident, and surprised at how much they enjoyed it.

Something powerful happens when people sing together.

You stop overthinking.

You stop judging yourself.

And slowly, your confidence starts to grow — not just in singing, but in everyday life.

Many Sing Social members say joining a group was a turning point — helping them speak up more, feel less anxious, and connect with others.
